Brno, Jun 17 (BD) – The annual Brno Music Marathon Festival (Maraton Hudby Brno) will transform the city centre into a music metropolis for the fifth time this year. From August 13th-16th, visitors to the festival can expect musical performances ranging from Romani music and folklore to rock and pop to classical and opera and everything in between. The festival will also be hosting theatrical, dance, and circus performances.

The opening of the festival will take place on Jakubske namesti on Thursday, August 13th, with a performance by Pavel Fischer and Jakub Jedlinsky, followed by dulcimer music by Ivan Herak. Over the following days, the centre of Brno will play host to dozens more concerts and other performances, in over thirty locations, both traditional and unusual.

Among the unusual settings will be Katerina Seda’s “indoor busking” concerts. A series of rooms, similar to those one would usually find in a family house, will be built in the streets in an open set style, with busking performances related to each of the particular rooms. For example, the children’s room will host busking for children, and the pantry will see a combination of music and a gourmet experience.

The festival will also include a “theater line”, focused on Brno artists and theaters, as well as a more intimate program designed for smaller groups of spectators. While the theater line was mainly created with children in mind, TIC Brno Director Jana Janulikova said that adults will also certainly enjoy it.

The organisers of the festival said that the recommended safety and hygiene measures corresponding to the current epidemiological situation will apply throughout the festival.

You can find the festival programme, which is not yet fully announced, at the festival’s website.
